You are invited to the Yoruba/Orisa Practitioners’ Association/Egbe Aborisa of Columbia SC's inaugural celebration (this time to Oshun/Osun) to be held on Sunday January 3rd, 2016 3pm-5pm at Blue Oasis Yoga and Holistics 6729 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29223. You must PRE-REGISTER for our FREE event. REGISTER NOW!
This African Spiritual group is open to the people of Columbia, SC and anyone is welcome to attend—but space is limited! We cannot guarantee a spot to non-registrants. Your registration may include others. If you later find out that you cannot attend, please cancel your registration, because that provides more space.
The Orisa of this January celebration is Oshun/Osun! Ore Yeye! Oshun/Osun is the goddess of love, money, beauty, fresh water, healing, strength, divine insight and the ancient woman. Please bring your offerings and wear African attire, or clothes that are either all yellow, all green, or all white. Come prepared to do ritual, dance and/or drum. If you play another instrument please bring it. Children are welcome and will be included.
Here are the types of offerings you can choose from to bring for Osun: money, green plant food (spinach, basil, dandelion, kale, etc.), honey, pumpkins, oranges, pineapples, flowers and chicken (if you prepared the chicken TOTALLY from scratch). Food, drink, plant and other offerings are used to create a deeper connection with you and the spirits. Money offered is used for spiritual AND communal connection, e.g. to rent/buy space, provide refreshments, prepare rituals, dash drummers, gift guest priests, and maintain Orisa for future gatherings.
Donations and volunteers are always welcome. If you'd like to donate to or volunteer with this Egbe outside of the celebration just message us. Egbe (group) celebrations will be seasonal, thus the next one is Spring 2016 (locations vary).
